Almeda Ryder, age 90, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at the Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Reverend David Poust of the United Methodist Church, Elizabeth will officiate. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery, Elizabeth. Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at funeral home prior to the service.
Almeda was born January 7, 1916, the daughter of Raymond and Bernice (Kuhn’s) Meffley in Hanover, Illinois. Almeda attended Elizabeth schools graduating from Elizabeth High School, Class of 1934. On September 14, 1935, Almeda married Carson V. “Casey” Ryder in Albany, Illinois. Carson passed away on February 17, 1993 in Elizabeth, Illinois.
Almeda enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her daughter. She loved spending time with her family, being out of doors, bird watching, listening to the 1940’s dance music and traveling to Arizona on family vacations. She especially loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great granddaughters.
Almeda is survived by a daughter, Janice (Carlton) Rittweger of Rockford, Illinois; a grandson, Michael Rittweger of Rockford; one granddaughter, Michelle (Paul) Myers of Winnebago, Illinois; two great granddaughters, Emily and Sara Myers, and three nephews.
Almeda is preceded in death by her husband, Carson and her parents.
