Alma L. Entwhistle, age 84, of rural Morrison, Illinois, died Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Coventry Living Center, Sterling, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, Illinois with Reverend Scott Bonestroo officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Community Cemetery, rural Morrison, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of the Funeral Service at the Church. Memorials may be made in Alma’s name and left to the Spring Valley Reformed Church Sunday School or the Self-Help Organization, Sterling, Illinois.
Alma was born the daughter of Chris and Mary (Kennedy) Gehlsen on July 9, 1922, rural Morrison. She attended country schools in the Morrison area. Alma graduated from Morrison High School with the Class of 1940. She also graduated from the Sterling Business College. On August 9, 1941, she married J. Wayne Entwhistle in Sterling, Illinois.
Alma worked as a secretary for General Electric in Morrison for 27 years. She also owned and operated Entwhistle’s Dolls and Hobby Shop. She enjoyed doll making, ceramics and quilting. She was a member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton.
Alma will be dearly missed by her husband, J. Wayne Entwhistle of Morrison; three sons, Eldon (Marshann) Entwhistle of Princeton, Illinois, Gehl (Dianne) Entwhistle of Elmhurst, Illinois and Brent Entwhistle of Morrison; two grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Entwhistle; a brother, Lyle Gehlsen of Morrison; and a sister, Sarah (Guy) Johnston of Springfield, Illinois. Alma is preceded in death by both parents.
