Allen A. Heidenreich, age 78, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth, with Pastor Mike Nesbit officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016, and for an hour prior to the service on Friday. A memorial fund has been established in Allen’s memory.
Allen was born March 3, 1938, at home in rural Woodbine, the son of Delbert and Ella (Schreck) Heidenreich. He attended elementary school in Woodbine and graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1956. Allen honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. On September 14, 1968, Allen married Diana Schultz at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabeth.
Allen worked alongside his brother, Eldon in construction until Eldon passed away. He then owned and operated Heidenreich Construction and retired in 2014. Allen enjoyed woodworking and building HO model railroad sets. He also enjoyed road trips to the National Parks around the United States with his wife, Diana. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.
Allen will be dearly missed by his wife, Diana of Elizabeth; three children, Nathan Heidenreich of Macomb, Illinois, Heather Heidenreich of Montgomery, Illinois, and Shawn (Susan) Heidenreich of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; two grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie Heidenreich; and two sisters, Faye Heidenreich of Elizabeth, and Elva Atz of Lena, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eldon, Dwight, and LaVerne; and two sisters, Helen Heidenreich and Florene Oswalt.
