Allen J. Beyer, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at home. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Derinda, Illinois. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Derinda. A memorial fund has been established in Allen's memory.
Allen was born March 5, 1935, in Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of Lorenz and Augusta (Eacker) Beyer. Allen graduated Elizabeth High School. Allen was a Korean War Veteran. On January 20, 1957, Allen married Sharon Vacek.
Allen was a farm hand in Lena, IL and worked for Savanna Ready Mix, later he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 11 years and at the Palisades Park as a site technician for 13 years. He was a volunteer at the Carroll County Senior Center. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Derinda. He believed in and loved the community. Service was his life. He was great at making dill pickles and garlic popcorn and a true nature lover. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren John, Chelsey, Lisa, Heather, Brittany, Cassidy, Colin, and Noah. He adored his Great Grandchildren Emrie, Ember, Dru, Asher, Wyatt, and Eowyn. He liked gardening, fishing, volunteering, breakfast and coffee with his friends every morning at McDonalds and all the world travels with his wife.
Allen will be dearly missed by his wife Sharon; two children, Clark (Claire) Beyer of Galena, Missouri and Wendy (Dan) Reitemeier of Titusville, Florida; sister-in-law, Brenda (Vacek) James of LeClaire, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Peggy) Beyer, and Russell (Linda) Beyer, all of Elizabeth, Illinois; two sisters, Lavonne Schrader, and Twila (Richard) Reusch, all of Elizabeth, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenz and Augusta; one sister, Iva May; two brothers, John and Leroy; a sister Dorthy; and one sister-in-law, Kathie (Vacek) Cramer.
