Allen P. “Alex” Bormann, age 64, of Preston, Iowa passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, January 12, 2006. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa with Father Don Plamondon as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the family in Allen’s name.
Allen was born September 3, 1941, the son of Victor H. and Katherine H. (Kilburg) Bormann in Preston. On October 14, 1961, Allen married Ruth Miller in Preston.
Allen owned and operated Preston Meats for the past forty-eight years. He dedicated himself to his company and family. Allen very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Allen was very proud of being inducted into the American Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, watching NASCAR, Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cubs baseball on television.
Allen will be deeply missed by his wife, Ruth of Preston; his son, Todd Bormann of Clinton, Iowa; two daughters, Shelly (Shawn) McDonald and Brenda (Jeff) Witt, all of Preston; three brothers, Don (Harolyn) Bormann of Davenport, Iowa, Loren “Butch” (Madonna) Bormann of Preston and Greg (Patti) Bormann of Brighton, Colorada; two sisters, Karen (Ed) Gibbs of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Phyllis Duhme of Preston; one sister in-law, Janice Bormann of Gooselake, Iowa, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lester Bormann.
