Alice G. Rogers, age 94, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away on August 18, 2008 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, Pastor Ken Matthews will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association and Heartland Hospice in Alice’s memory.
Alice was born on July 6, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Virtue) Gray. She graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of 1933. Alice married Bennett C. Rogers on September 28, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa. Bennett died on January 2, 1992 in Dubuque, Iowa
Alice was a clerk for the Savanna Army Ordnance Depot. She loved working with ceramics and she operated Alice’s Ceramics in Hanover for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary in Hanover. Alice enjoyed baking, especially cookies.
Alice will be dearly missed by two nieces, Ellen (Frank) Pancoe of Glenn Ellyn, Illinois and Sandra Licher of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; two great nephews, Allen (Lori) Gray of Hanover, and Charles “Gus” Gray of Denver, Colorado; two great nieces, Shelley Anne Gray of Lake in the Hills, Illinois and Elissa Pancoe of Glenn Ellyn.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennett; three brothers, Homer, Willis, and Charles; and two sisters, Edith and Isabelle.
