Alice Arlene Adolph, age 93, of Chadwick, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Morrison Resthave Home, Morrison, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church, Chadwick. Burial will take place in Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
Alice was born on July 20, 1923 in Salem Township, the daughter of Walter and Olive (George) Queckboerner. She attended Chadwick High School and graduated with the Class of 1941. On January 21, 1945, Alice married Richard Adolph. They celebrated 63 years of marriage until Richard’s death in 2009.
Alice farmed with her husband, and remembers the days of using horses to do the work instead of machinery. She was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. Alice loved sewing, baking cookies, and cooked many meals for their farm hands. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chadwick since birth, and a member of the Golden Rule Women’s Circle.
Alice will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Kappes of Chadwick, and Juanita Adolph of Plains, Montana; one daughter-in-law, Deb Adolph of Chadwick; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, one son, Terry Adolph in 2014, and her brother, Donald Queckboerner.
