Algean M. Hayward

Algean M. Hayward, age 95 of Green Island, Iowa died on March 1, 2012 at the Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Green Island Congregational Church, Green Island. Burial will take place in the Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in Algean’s memory.
Algean was born on January 25, 1917, the daughter of George and Lulamae (Lingle) Krumviede in Green Island. She married Russell L. Hayward, Sr. on July 18, 1937 in Bellevue. Russell passed away on January 29, 1992.
Algean was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She and her husband, Russell were blessed with eight children. Algean was a member of the Green Island Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. Algean enjoyed baking and was known for her exceptional bread baking skills. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Rummy 500. Most of all, Algean loved spending time with her family and friends.
Algean will be dearly missed by four sons, George Hayward of Green Island, Robert (Sandy) Hayward of Alamo, Texas, Russell (Shawna) Hayward, Jr. of Green Island and Tom (Sue) Hayward of Green Island; four daughters, Arlis Krabbenhoft of Maquoketa, Iowa, Judy Reed of Bellevue, Iowa, Dianne Barker of Maquoketa and Lorraine (Sam) Dobson of Green Island; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Algean was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; two brothers, August and Elmer Krumviede; four sisters, Elsie Culver, Margaret Robinson, Florence Huebbe and Mabel Meder.
