Alfred Leroy Flor

Alfred Leroy Flor, age 90, of Sabula, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, prior to the service.

Alfred was born January 19, 1919 in Muskrat Hollow near Green Island, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Marshall) Flor. He attended school in Green Island. On December 26, 1953, Alfred married Marilyn Shadle at Clinton, Iowa. They have celebrated 56 years.

During World War II, Alfred worked at the Savanna Army Depot. He owned and operated a painting business for over 40 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed tinkering around in the shed, climbing and trimming trees, and fixing things.

Alfred will be dearly missed by his wife, Marilyn; son, Alan (Rae) Flor of Sabula; two daughters, Kathy Flor of Bellevue, Nancy (Jerry) Haiar of Camanche, Iowa; four grandsons, Kurt (Mary) Haiar, Jarrod (Amy) Haiar, Mark Flor, Alex Flor; granddaughter, Jill (Brian) Zimmerman; four great grandchildren, Dakota Zimmerman, Emma Zimmerman, Logan Haiar, Andrew Haiar; brother, Ralph (Alene) Flor of Sabula; and a sister, Gladys Daniels of Green Island, Iowa.

Alfred is preceded in death by a brother John.
