Alfred "Andy" Anderson

Alfred “Andy” Harrison Anderson, age 78, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Andy’s memory.
Andy was born August 1, 1937 at home in Savanna, the son of Robert and Lillian (Thulion) Anderson. He attended Savanna Schools and worked as a pin setter for the Savanna Bowling Alley during his high school years. On July 22, 1956, Andy married Sandra Davis. They separated after 24 years of marriage and six children, but remained lifelong friends.
Andy worked for the City of Savanna and the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1959, he went to work for Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as carman/welder until his retirement in 1990. Andy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, and hunting for arrowheads, mushrooms and ginseng. Andy cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Andy will be dearly missed by his six children, Jody (Jon) Kragel of Villa Park, Illinois, Bonnie (Don) Carlson of Sabula, Iowa, Dena Anderson of Savanna, Jeannine Eldrenkamp of Clinton, Iowa, Patrick Anderson of Mt. Carroll, Illinois and Tascha (Jeff) Tix of Dunkerton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Robert (Barb) Anderson of Savanna.Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lillian, his lifelong friend and mother to his children, Sandra Anderson-Bourrette, three sons-in-law, Richard Anderson, Tony Eldrenkamp and Ray Green; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson and a sister, June and a granddaughter, Anna Noelle Tix.
