Ada Rebecca (Schaal) Vesely, age 94, a resident of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, where she had resided since October 2018. The family extends a special thank you for the care of their mother. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. May 6th, at the Savanna Township Cemetery.
Ada was born February 10, 1928 in Potosi, Wisconsin to the late Russell and Ella Schaal, the sixth child of twelve. She graduated from Savanna High School class of 1946. After graduating, she worked as a secretary in the Quad Cities, and the Ordnance Depot near Hanover, Illinois. She married Gene R. Vesely on August 21, 1949 in the Methodist Church in Hanover, Illinois, and lived thereafter in Savanna. She was an active member of the Savanna Bible Church, and a loving, devoted wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; her son, Billy; daughters, Judith (John) Adelmann, and Susan; five brothers, Alfred, John Hubert, George Stanley, Henry Jr., Frank, and Ivan; her son-in-law, Gary Bonjour; and a grandson, Samuel Gene Olson.
Her loving memory will be cherished by her son, Paul (Shannon) of Bloomfield, IA; four daughters, Pamela (Marvin) Cox of Salem, OR, Cheryl (Dennis) Edwards of Fulton, IL, Patricia Bonjour of Thomson, IL, and Merrie (Bruce) Olson of Franktown, CO; a son-in-law, John Adelmann; a daughter-in-law, Regina Vesely; a brother, David of Denver, CO; four sisters, Irma Sawdon of Washougal, WA, Florence Sanders of Gladstone, MO, Ellen (John) Williams of Silver Springs, MD, and Norma Jean Favor of Maple Ridge, BC; twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
