Ada was born May 6, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Bartels) Paetow. She is a graduate of Miles High School and the University of Northern Iowa in teaching. On May 29, 1955, Ada married Glenn Gravert. They raised four children and celebrated 60 years of marriage until Glenn’s passing in 2015.

Ada worked as a teacher for many years, teaching 1st grade and later substituting when she retired. Many students would try to get Ada side-tracked by talking about hunting and fishing, and she would have many stories. She also farmed with her husband Glenn. They worked hard, but always had time to spend with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and Dominoes, and loved her dog, Luckie.

Ada was a member of the Green Island Congregational Church and Ducks Unlimited. She loved the outdoors. Ada especially enjoyed introducing young people to the joy of hunting and fishing and she and Glenn taught many hunter safety courses over the years. They also enjoyed taking drives in the country. Ada was a seasoned hunter, even hunting deer and turkey into her eighties.

Ada will be dearly missed by her daughter, Terri Preston of Miles; two sons, Guy (Michelle) Gravert of Pearl City, Illinois and Montana, Mitch (Leana) Gravert of Miles; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Mary) Paetow of Aurora, Colorado. Ada is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; her son, George; a brother, Paul Paetow; sisters, Lois Dohrn and Dorothy Moeller; and a son-in-law, Joe Preston.
