Aaron D. Sevey, age 48, of Colorado Springs, Colorado formerly of Hanover, Illinois died Saturday, January 8, 2011. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover with Reverend David Vidler of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. In leiu of flowers,memorials may be given to the Hanover VFW Post # 5300 in Aaron’s memory. Aaron was born on July 1, 1962, the son of Dean D. and Nancy E. (Bourrette) Sevey in Savanna, Illinois. Aaron attended Hanover High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. After graduation, Aaron attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming and became a Certified Diesel Mechanic. Aaron then enlisted in the United States Army at the age of twenty-seven. He was married to Janet Lawson on September 1, 1984 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Derinda, Illinois.
Aaron was a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army for almost twenty years. While serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Aaron was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He loved living in Colorado, enjoyed hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. Aaron also enjoyed working on anything mechanical and racing with his friends at the Cordova Dragway. Most of all, Aaron cherished spending time with his family and friends. Aaron was always there to lend a helping hand and give words of encouragement.
Aaron will be dearly missed by two children, Mallory (Kyle) Buck of Colorado Springs and James (Krystal) Sevey of Colorado Springs; one expected grandchild in April; his mother, Nancy (Dan) Speer of Hanover; six brothers and sisters, Kevin Sevey of Hanover, Trevor (Meredith) Sevey of Hanover, Renee Wand of Hazel Green, Wisconsin Jesse (Heather) Speer of Hanover, Lacey Speer of Elizabeth, Illinois and Brandy Speer of Pueblo, Colorado; and six nieces and nephews, Tyler Sevey, Samantha, Mackensie and Bailey Wand and Theodore and Ethan Speer. Aaron was preceded in death by his father, Dean and one infant brother, Kent Sevey.
