Aaron C. Johnson, age 88, of Thomson, Illinois, died on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Mercy South Skilled Care, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois, with Reverend Ruth Lyons officiating. Burial will take place in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Victory Center, Clinton, Iowa, in Aaron’s memory. Aaron was born on February 23, 1923, the son of Bert and Margaret (Lohmeier) Johnson in Thomson, Illinois. He was raised in the area and attended country school. Aaron married Alberta Johnson on March 10, 1967. Alberta died on May 5, 1985. Aaron later married Maxine Robb on November 21, 1990.
Aaron farmed his entire life and was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau for over fifty years. He was also a member of the Chadwick Masons, the Freeport Consistory, and the Savanna Moose Club. Aaron attended York Community Church in Thomson, and was a member of the American Angus Association. Most of all, Aaron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Aaron will be dearly missed by his wife, Maxine of Thomson, Illinois; two step-children, Robert Robb of Doniphan, Missouri and JoAnne Boone of Cordova, Illinois; two grandchildren, Cory Boone and Brian Apostolos; one great grandchild, Xavyer Boone; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alberta and two brothers, Gene and Virtus Johnson.
