A. John Rosenow, age 68, of Chadwick, Illinois, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Chadwick. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, also at Law – Jones Funeral Home, Chadwick. Burial will follow at the Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon, Illinois.
John was born January 14, 1943, in Morrison, Illinois, the son of August and Genevieve (Van Vuren) Rosenow. He graduated from Chadwick High School with the Class of 1961. John farmed most of his life in the Chadwick area. His passion in life was farming, gardening, hunting and antique tractors. John was a member of the Riverbend Antique Tractor Pullers. He competed in and won many antique tractor pull competitions in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
John is survived and lovingly remembered by four sisters, Marlene (Darrel) Gelsinger of Gepp, Arkansas, Janice Adams of Chadwick, Illinois, Ardith Spencer of Sabula, Iowa, and Gloria (Ellis) Engel of Rock Falls, Illinois; two brothers, William (Dortha) Rosenow of Talala, Oklahoma, and Allen (Cindy) Rosenow of Sterling, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, August and Genevieve Rosenow.
