Burial will follow at Old Log Church Cemetery, in rural Hanover. Family and friends are invited to share in Yerda’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com. Yerda was born August 25, 1941 in Savanna, IL, the daughter of John “Jack” and Nadine (Graham) McIntyre. She graduated from Hanover High School with the class of 1959, then enrolled at the Sterling School of Beauty Culture. She would go on to make a career of beauty care, working for Marie’s Beauty Shop in Elizabeth for a time before opening her own shop out of her home in Hanover, and running it for more than 50 years. On August 9, 1961, Yerda married Harold Clyde Potter; they would go on to have two children. Yerda was proud of her community and was always looking for ways to contribute to it. She served as an EMT, and was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Jo Daviess County Republican Women, the Jo Daviess County Board, and the Hanover United Methodist Church. She was also a “seamstress extraordinaire.” She would make quilts and could sew just about anything. She would even create cheerleading uniforms and dolls for children. Yerda adored her family and made sure all her best moments in life were with them by her side. She shared her love for travel with her children, and later grandchildren, ensuring that they got to see the many wonders our country has to offer. She and her mother, Nadine would also take the occasional spur-of-the-moment gambling trip even if it meant hopping on a plane bound for the Caribbean or Atlantic City. She was a caring woman who was full of life and will be dearly missed by many. Yerda is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Darcy (Matt) Wild, of Hanover and Jeff (Brenda) Potter, of Hanover; grandchildren, Carter Wild, Cassidy Potter, and Wyatt Potter; sister, Peggy (Richard) Morse; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Nadine McIntyre.
