W. Don Nesemeier

W. Don Nesemeier, age 86, of rural Shannon, Illinois passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at Allure of Mt. Carroll Nursing Center.
He was born October 1, 1935 near Shannon on the family farm, the son of William and Laura (Moring) Nesemeier. He is a graduate of the Freeport High School with the Class of 1953, On September 29, 1956, Don married Charlotte Rye. They raised a daughter Terry and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Don farmed most of his life. He also served as the Shannon Township Road Commissioner for six years. He was a member of the Elks Club, Germania Club and Shannon Volunteer Fire Department. Don enjoyed working on his home, working outside on his land, and woodworking.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Charlotte of rural Shannon; his daughter, Terry Nesemeier-Whitson (Jeff Whitson) of Forreston; a granddaughter, Brittany (Chris) Sherden; a great-grandson, Lucas; and a sister, Janis Peterson of Georgia. Don is preceded in death by both parents and his siblings, Carolyn Byington, Stanley Nesemeier and Betty Erdmier.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
