Randal "Duffer" Reistroffer

Randal E. “Duffer” Reistroffer, age 64, of Bryant, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at his home. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Randy was born December 30, 1954, the son of Allen and Evelyn (Medinger) Reistroffer in Maquoketa, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm near Bryant and attended Northeast High School with the Class of 1973. Randy chose to enlist in the Marine Corp and proudly served his country 1972-75, attaining the rank of E-4 Corporal. On September 18, 1982, Randy married Mary Jo McCloy. Together they raised four children and celebrated 37 years of marriage.

Randy worked as a Dealer for the Casino Belle in Dubuque, Manager for the Mississippi Belle in Clinton, and a Pit Boss for Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington, Iowa until retirement. He was a member of the Spragueville American Legion, the Preston AMVETS Club, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. Randy enjoyed playing cards, and Allis Chalmers tractors. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren fishing and camping.

Randy will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary Jo of Bryant; four children, Edward Reistroffer of Welton, Iowa, Angela (Mike Hopfensperger) Reistroffer of Dewitt, Iowa, Rodney Reistroffer of Bryant, Iowa, and Rebecca (Matt Gerardy) Reistroffer of Preston, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mallory, Cecilia, Gracie, and Robert; his mother, Evelyn Reistroffer of Camanche; his brother, Steve Reistroffer of Welton, Iowa; four sisters, Diane Skinner of Grand Mound, Iowa, Sandra (Tom) Claussen of Anamosa, Iowa, Paula (Brian Chandler) Coleman of Goose Lake, Iowa and Mary Jo (Tom) McCleary of Bondurant, Iowa; and Hilde Myklatun, a Norwegian foreign exchange student that lived with the family in 2005. Randy is preceded in death by his father, Allen; a sister, JoAnn in infancy; brother in-law, Troy Skinner; and his mother and father in-law, Eugene and Arletta McCloy.
