Marian L. Haring, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 after a brief stay in Hospice Care at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening, January 25th at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Savanna. A Christian funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26th with visitation one hour prior. A light luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall after the service. Cremation rites will be accorded and committal will take place in the Savanna Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be left in Marian’s memory to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Iowa City Children’s Hospital.
Marian was born on May 2, 1930 in Edgewood, IA to Clifford & Gladys (Wilkemeyer) Rhines
Her father moved to Savanna in 1943 to work on the Milwaukee Railroad with Marian and her family following him to Illinois in 1945. On July 20, 1950 she married Charles W. Haring. Charles passed away on November 28, 1993.
Along with being a wife, mother and grandmother, Marian also worked for a time at the R.M. Kauffman Garment Company, Alco Manufacturing and Swiss Colonies, in Savanna.
Marian was an active member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Savanna and the Lydian’s Society. She had a strong faith in the Lord which helped guide her through each day. She was avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She thoroughly enjoyed her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson’s, along with many friends.
Marian will be dearly missed by her children Steven (Lorraine) Haring of Savanna, IL, Charles S. “Scott” Haring of Morrison, IL, Mark (Susie) Haring of Bettendorf, IA, Cheryl (David) Bolson of Conyers, GA, and Linda (Kyle) Kramer of Asbury, IA; grandchildren Justin (Brandy) Haring, Matthew & Aaron Haring, Charles D. “Drake” Haring, Amy Hansen, Ryan (Alisa) Bolson & Michael Bolson, Hannah & Ethan Kramer; great-grandson’s Caden & Reese Haring, a sister-in-law and brother in-law, Lois & Ken Smith; several nieces & nephews, cousins and their extended families.
Marian was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter Cynthia, her sisters Phoebe Soltow & Irma Rhines, brother-in-law Richard Soltow, sister and brother-in-law Velma & Max Kreuder and a niece Christine (Soltow) Glancy.
