Linda Priegel

Linda Priegel believed in giving to others and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. She passed away at the age of 55, Monday, November 4, 2013 at the home she grew up in.


Linda enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to local bands and participating in volleyball, softball and basketball leagues. She liked to go to garage sales and auctions. Linda loved hunting for morels and raspberries, and gave everything she found to others. Linda truly cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth for many years.


Linda was born on December 28, 1957 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of George and Cecelia (Wand) Hoppe. She attended Elizabeth High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. On May 22, 1981, Linda married the love of her life Craig Priegel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth.


Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Craig; two sons, Clinton Priegel of Dubuque, Iowa, Tyler Priegel of Savanna; one daughter, Celia Priegel of Elizabeth; one sister, Sherri (Gene) Naumann of Hanover; four brothers, Rick (Betsy) Hoppe of Stockton, Illinois; Charles Hoppe of Stockton, Bob Hoppe of Hanover, Illinois, Ken Hoppe of Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. Linda is preceded in death by her parents.


A private family service will be held in Elizabeth with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of sending flowers or gifts, send any donations to Hospice of Dubuque 1670 John F. Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.
