October 2, 1970 - June 13, 2020
LeAllen Lee Hafer (49) also known to respond to Leroy, Elroy, Levy, LeeLee, Leebone, Roy and Leemonster passed away on Saturday, June 13th. His passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of the many who loved him. Lee was born on October 2, 1970 in Savanna IL. He tipped the scales at a whopping 5 lbs 9 ounces and arrived home in a shoebox. Growing up, Lee liked to keep his parents on their toes by getting into trouble at every turn. Instances like causing a pyramid of soup cans to come crashing down and getting kicked out of the store or trying to "help" load an armored truck with money (the guard was ready to pull his gun when his Dad yelled "oh no, don't shoot!"); he always liked to keep things fun. Lee had so many interests. A consummate "putzer", Lee loved being outdoors hunting, camping with family and friends growing up or keeping (by his impeccable standards) the yard professionally manicured with his own two hands. His standards were high and his attention to detail reflected in the care he took in all aspects of life and the way he cared for things like his yard and the people he loved. During his days growing up in Mt. Carroll, he could be seen cruising town in his orange Bronco "Verne" and breaking hearts at the local Dairy Queen with his movie star good looks. Lee enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, splitting wood (as his neighbors will tell you), watching the Dallas Cowboys, listening to Pink Floyd or old country music and tooling around the neighborhood in his golf cart with his beloved dog Archie. If you could get him to sit down long enough, he liked gathering around a firepit shooting the breeze and solving the world's problems with friends and family. Returning to the farm in Mt. Carroll to hang out with and help his dad brought Lee much joy. They enjoyed doing things like mowing or chopping wood or heading to the river to fish. He also loved being a nurse as it fit his natural caregiving personality. "Awesome human", "salt of the earth", "dang good lookin'" are things that people have said about Lee in reflection. He was the epitome of what it meant to be a good man and a good human being. He had a heart of gold he was willing to share it outwardly and selflessly. He would give the shirt off of his back (even the ones with the sleeves cut off) to anyone in need. He was known for his quick dry wit and his ability to get along with anyone. During his life and since his passing the overwhelming response has been about what an incredible person he was. He loved his children with every ounce of his heart. They loved to watch Seinfeld together, eat tacos, watch movies and his eyes lit up when he saw them. His hugs were the best, you felt it and he meant it. He will be forever missed by his children (Avery, 25 and Sydney, 21), his Dad (Dennis), his sister (DeAnda) and by his wife (Meg) and his canine companion Archie. They aren't sure how they will move on without him but know that Lee is with them always and was entered into heaven in the warm loving embrace of his Mom Linda. Simply put he will never be forgotten and his legacy of love and laughs will live on in our hearts forever and ever. Services will be held on Saturday, June 27th at Law Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, IL. Visitation will take place at 10 AM, service at 11 AM followed by a celebration of Lee's life at his favorite place - "the farm". Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial for his children has been established.
