JoAnn Hoffman, age 77, of Savanna, Illinois, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at home with her loving family. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Massbach, Illinois. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Massbach. Visitation will be held 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in JoAnn’s memory.
JoAnn was born October 25, 1935 in Pleasant Valley Township, Illinois, the daughter of Christoph and Marian (Haas) Beyer. She graduated from Stockton High School, Stockton, Illinois with the Class of 1953, and went on to attend Finley Nursing School, Dubuque, Iowa. On January 17, 1959, JoAnn married Don Hoffman in Stockton.
JoAnn was a Registered Nurse and Surgical Nurse at the Savanna City Hospital for many years; she worked thirty years for the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. She was a past member of the Savanna School Board, had been a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, Massbach, Illinois. Most of all Jo Ann was a top-notch Nurse, a great cook and she put her heart and soul into her family.
JoAnn will be dearly missed by her two sons, Mark (Ann) Hoffman of Troy, Missouri and Allen (Karen) Hoffman of Savanna, Illinois; and one daughter, Becky (Kurt) Rath of Elizabeth, Illinois; five grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Glenn, Katie, and Kirk; three sisters, Beverly Paisley, Judy Ven Huizen both of Stockton, and Mila Beyer of Freeport, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews;
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; one sister, Melody Randecker; and two brothers, Cletus and Gary Beyer.
