Jerry Lee Baity, age 78 of Lanark, Illinois, nephew of Pastor Robert and Fern Phelps, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at home in Lanark. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Law Jones Eastland in Lanark. Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Law Jones Eastland, Lanark. A Graveside service will be held 11:30 Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Old Bethel Cemetery, Salem, Illinois with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Crouse Funeral Home, Salem, Illinois. Jerry was born October 7, 1943 in Salem, Illinois. Throughout a long and productive life, Jerry lived with Cerebral Palsy, overcoming many obstacles along the way. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Rachel (Atteberry) and Leslie Eddings. Jerry loved going places, especially eating hamburgers and going to Pizza Ranch. He enjoyed giving hugs, singing and petting dogs. Jerry was a member of the Salem Baptist Church many years ago. He was currently a member of Pleasant Valley and Berreman Churches of God near Mt. Carroll. Jerry will be dearly missed by his second Dad and Mom, Pastor Bob and Fern Phelps of Lanark; caregivers and special family members, Phil, Steve and Pam Phelps and Derek Earlenbaugh; and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Rachel and Leslie Eddings; and a special family member, Rick Phelps.
