Dorothy Jean Noble was born January 29, 1926, to Louis and Lorena (Bleakley) Noble in Mt. Carroll. Jean did not like the name Dorothy and wasn’t afraid to tell you not to call her that. Jean was raised by her grandmother, Katie Etheridge after the death of her mother, Lorena, at a very young age. She graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1944. After graduation she worked in Freeport and lived with her sister, Bette.
After a short courtship, she married Robert “Bob” Dyson of Lanark on September 28, 1947. They had three sons, Thomas, Dennis, Michael and one daughter, Debra. They farmed in the Lanark-Mt. Carroll area and she retired from Alco Manufacturing in Savanna where she made many friends.
Bob and Jean attended every sporting event of their children, and after his death, she continued to follow her grandchildren’s athletic activities. She was an avid sports fan and very knowledgeable and could carry on a good conversation with anyone about sports. Jean was a die-hard Cubs fan and was ecstatic when she was able to watch them win the 2016 World Series. She was also a Green Bay Packers fan.
Mrs. Dyson, being an independent soul, lived alone until very recently where she made her home with her son Dennis and Cathy Corey.
Mrs. Dyson is survived by her three sons, Tom “Looie” (Sharon) Dyson of Annandale, MN, Dennis “Duce” (Cathy Corey) Dyson of Savanna, Mick Dyson of Savanna; a daughter, Deb (Phil) Akker, of Morrison; seven grandchildren, Derek (Chris Werts) Dyson, Rob (Jackie) Dyson, Bryan (Jenny) Dyson, Adam (Carrie) Dyson, Cody (Annie) Dyson, Cara (Eric) Knott, and Julie (Dan) Woessner; 10 great-grandchildren, Axel, Jake, Reece, Aiden, Alex, Madison, and Cayden Dyson, Kelsey Guilliams, Leah and Luke Woessner, and a baby girl due in October. She is also survived by her sister, Patty (Bob) Wolber of Thomson, Illinois and family; and a brother, Bob (Jan) Noble and family of Loves Park, Illinois.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, her stepmother, Gladys Noble, her husband, one sister, Bette Morgan, and Grandma Katie.
