James "Jimmy" Moore

June 24, 1957 - May 8, 2022

James “Jimmy” Moore, of Thomson, IL, passed away Sunday, May 8th, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14th, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Jimmy was born June 24, 1957, son of James and Eleanor (Dyson) Moore. He grew up in Savanna and Attended Savanna schools. Jimmy graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1975. After High School Jimmy’s dad helped him start his career as an over the road trucker, a career that Jimmy would enjoy for over 20 years. When his father fell ill, Jimmy came home to take care of his dad, and started a career at Power Labs, where he worked for 27 years. In the late 80s Jimmy met the love of his life, Glenda Hammer. The couple knew right away they were meant for each other. Jimmy and Glenda married on July 1st, 1994. They celebrated 28 years of marriage until Jimmy’s passing. Jimmy was a jack of all trades, and a master of many. He loved to share his talents with family and friends, and help them fix whatever was broken. Jimmy was always helping people and was very giving. He was known for his great stories and jokes, and entertained friends and family at parties and bonfires. Everyone looked forward to his 4th of July party, always ending the night with a huge fireworks display. In his spare time Jimmy liked boating up the river and fishing. He was also a huge sports fan, especially when it came to Rams football. At the center of Jimmy’s life was his family. He had enormous pride in his children and grandchildren, and loved to talk about their accomplishments. He would do anything for his grandchildren and loved spending time with them; pulling them behind the tractor in the trailer, or taking a dip in the pool. Everyone in his family had a special place in his heart, and he let them know. Jimmy will be dearly missed by his wife, Glenda Moore of Thomson, IL; one son, Chad (Jennifer) Moore, of California; five daughters, Chelsea Moore of Arizona, Tamara Hammer, Joanne Crow, Cindy (Brad) Robinson, and Sarah Crow; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cathy (Duce Dyson) Corey, Colleen Terry, Patricia Derrickson, and Raylene Wright; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Buster Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eleanor; grandparents, Raymond and Lucille McFadden, and James and Carol Moore.
