Gary Nieland

Gary Nieland, age 63, of Preston, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the funeral home.

Gary was born October 14, 1955, the son of LaVerne and Irene (Medinger) Nieland in Maquoketa, Iowa. He attended Preston High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. He worked as a metal worker for Precision Metal Works in Maquoketa for many years. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports, collecting baseball and football cards, going to the casino and playing softball at Geno’s. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family and friends.

Gary will be dearly missed by his three siblings, Karen Feltes of Maquoketa, Wayne (Nancy) Nieland of LeClaire, Iowa, and Myra (David) Franzen of Preston; seven nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews; and a special longtime friend, Brenda Dunn of Miles, Iowa. Gary is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Raymond Feltes, Jr.; and two nephews.
