Eddie G. Ansell, 63 of Elizabeth, Illinois and formally of Morris, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth.
Ed was born on October 9, 1954 in Morris, the son of Raymond and Frances (Botts) Ansell. He was raised in Morris graduating from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1973. He then attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He worked for the US Government as a civilian with the Army and was stationed in Savanna, IL, McAlester, OK, Ft Belvore, VA and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD retiring in 2014 to his farm in Elizabeth, IL.
He was a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for rural Virginia, Maryland and Oklahoma and a licensed amateur radio operator, call letters K5EQ.
Survivors include his wife, Silvia (Laaber) of Krebs, OK, two children Nicole Ansell (Jacob Osterloh) of Racine, Wisconsin, Vivian Ansell (Jonathan Cummings) of Joplin, Missouri, granddaughter Lily Nicole Cummings; sister, Susan Ansell (Kenneth Johnson) of Marseilles, IL and brother Dale Ansell (Rosemarie) of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond V. Ansell in 1988 and Frances Botts Ansell in 1980 and a nephew James E. Kingman in 2002.
