Charlene M. Bell, age 81, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Generations Nursing and Rehab Center, Rock Island, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Charlene’s memory.
Charlene was born November 19, 1936, in Savanna, the daughter of John and Dorothy (VanBuer) Durham. She attended Mount St. Claire Academy and graduated with the Class of 1954. Charlene married Franklin Bell on December 1, 1956. She later married Duane Bolwar on September 12, 1969. Duane died in 1992.
Charlene worked at Black Hawk Area Credit Union in Savanna for many years. She also worked at Metform in Savanna and the Daily Dispatch in Moline, Illinois. Charlene was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and the outdoors, especially boating, camping, fishing, and visiting the Mississippi Palisades Park. Most of all, she loved being a mother and grandmother.
Charlene is survived by two sons, Scott H. Bell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Franklin T. Bell of Ft. Worth, Texas; her guardian, Stefani Bell of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Brian Bell of Santee, California, Kenyada Dorothy Helen Bell of Augusta, Georgia, and Leslie Estella Gracelynn Bell of Ft. Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands, Franklin Bell and Duane Belwar.
