Carolann Kay Stricklin

May 28, 1945 - April 26, 2020

Carolann Kay Stricklin, age 74, of Savanna, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at FHN Hospital, Freeport. A private family funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Friends and family are also invited to share in Carol’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com. Carol was born May 28, 1945 in Savanna, the daughter of Carroll V and Mildred A (Dickman) Kehoe. She grew up loving the Mississippi River area, and as a young girl, knew she would someday make this area her home too. After attending Savanna High School, Carol began working to make her dreams come true. She married and had a son, David. It was her joy to raise a son and participate in his life throughout his school years. Carol was especially happy when David married Meri Swan and later had a Grandson, “Huey.” Once again there was a baby in the family, and Carol helped babysit and loved being “Grandma.” She was the best! Besides her joy of being Grandma, Carol worked thirty-five years for Eaton Corporation in the Hanover Plant. As a Machine Operator, she had to understand technology to be successful. She also enjoyed the many friends that she made over her working years. As Carol appreciated all of her friendships, she learned to count-on her best friend, Kathy. She always enjoyed the conversations and time they spent together. She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Savanna. Carol enjoyed watching old westerns, traveling and shopping. She was always planning for the next family get-together and enjoyed being part of the extended Swan family. Most important to her, was her faith and her grandson, Huey. Carol will be dearly missed by her son, David (Meri) Stricklin of Savanna; her grandson, David Henry Peter “Huey” Stricklin; five brothers, Lee (Jane) Kehoe of Savanna, Chris (Cheryl) Long of Savanna, Dean (Walter) Long of Tucson, AZ, Dale (Pat) Long of Baltimore, MD and Mark (Steve) Long of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Gale (Stephen) Hall of Inman, SC and Jacqueline Smith of Savanna and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William “Ted” Long and Clifford Long; and a niece, Rachel Long.
