Anna Mazurek, age 106, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Carroll County Good Samaritan in Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites will be accorded. There are no funeral services scheduled at this time.
Anna was born July 16, 1912, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Frank and Agatha (Cebulinska) Respecki. Anna married Steve Mazurek on July 13, 1935 in the Holy Trinity Church, Chicago. Steve died on March 3, 1992.
Anna was an independent woman, who kept her own home until 1992. After Steve passed, Anna moved to Frankfort, Illinois to be closer to her daughter, Carole. She later lived in Tinley Court Assisted Living in Tinley Park, Illinois. In 2014, Anna moved to the Carroll County Good Samaritan in Mt. Carroll to be closer to her daughter, Phyllis In her past, she managed a Pepperidge Farm retail store on the south side of Chicago and later retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company as a Tailor. She enjoyed being a Seamstress and loved mending and sewing apparel for men and women. Anna cherished spending time with her family and loved playing games, especially Pokeno, Bingo, and board games.
Anna will be dearly missed by her two sons, Robert (Carmen) Mazurek of Atlanta, Georgia and Daniel (Marti) Mazurek of Livonia, Michigan; two daughters Carole Cottingham of Thornton, Illinois and Phyllis (Donald) Davies of Lanark, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Judy Rietveld, Donald (Sharon) Davies, Jane (Gary) Muller, Dean (Carol) Davies, Bill (Sue) Thompson, Bob (Penny) Thompson, Darren (Alexis) Mazurek, and Sherri (Chad Laney) Mazurek; 12 great-grandchildren, Justin and Jason Thompson, Melissa and Donny Davies, Steven Mullner, Dean and Jenni Davies, Zachary and Savanna Thompson, Dominic Mazurek, and Ethan and Oliver Mazurek; and one great-great-grandson, Eric Mullner.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Steve; two brothers, Chares and Frank Respecki; and two sisters, Francis Bednarski and Mildred De Leeuw.
