William “Bill” H. David, age 76, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A Masonic Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. prior to the memorial gathering at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Mississippi Masonic Lodge No. 385 in Bill’s memory.
Bill was born October 17, 1941, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Hartzel and Etta Lorraine (Hastings) David. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. On May 30, 1965, Bill married Heidrun “Heidi” Schlegel at St. Michael’s Church in Anaheim, California.
In the 1970’s, Bill and his wife, Heidi, owned and operated the Clothes Horse, selling men’s apparel in Savanna. Bill later worked at Chemplex in Clinton, Iowa, for 25 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Mississippi Masonic Lodge No. 385 in Savanna. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on the Mississippi River. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and close friends.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Heidi of Savanna; two children, William David, Jr. of Roscoe, Illinois, and Denise (Tim) Brinkmeier of Warren, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jared, Lindsey, and Nikolaus Brinkmeier; a brother, Robert (Kristi) David of Fulton, Illinois; and a sister, Karen (William) Schroeder of Conyers, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hartzel and Etta; and many aunts and uncles.
