Warren James Imel, age 81 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Church of God, Mt. Carroll.
Warren was born February 26, 1929 in Thomson, Illinois the son of Cecil and Josephine (Sour) Imel. Warren went to school in Thomson. On December 17, 1950, Warren married Rosemary R. Heisler. Rosemary died August 14, 1987. Warren later married Linda Brunner in 1997.
Warren and Rosemary began farming in 1950. They purchased the Heisler family farm in 1966. Warren and Rosemary enjoyed working side-by-side on the farm. Warren sold the farm in 1997. He also was a seed corn salesman and sold Newton products. He was a member of the Mt. Carroll Church of God and served on the Carroll County Farm Bureau Board.
Warren enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed finding and fixing toys for his grandchildren and taking them fishing at the farm pond. He treasured the time he spent with his family. In 2009, Warren was severely injured in a auto accident, his strength and determination carried him through this past year.
Warren will be dearly missed by two sons, Richard (Barb) Imel of Mt. Carroll and Randy (Tammy) Imel of Chadwick; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister, Geneva (Dale) Stadel of Lena, Illinois.Warren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary; his sister, Betty Lartz; and his beloved cousin, John Sour.
