Thelma Smith

Thelma May Smith, age 96, of Morrison, Illinois, formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Resthave Home, Morrison. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.
Thelma was born February 29, 1920 at home in Mt. Carroll, the daughter of Max and Anna (Nipe) Fulton. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1938. On October 9, 1937, Thelma married Hobert Smith in Clinton, Iowa. They celebrated 67 years of marriage until Hobert’s death in 2005.
Thelma worked for General Electric as a lineworker for 28 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Morrison. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards, traveling, and reading. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with all of her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.
Thelma will be dearly missed by three children, Lyle Smith of Morrison, Judy (Larry) Heath of Morrison, and Diane (Bob) Frankfather of Rock Falls, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Hobert; son, Gary Smith; daughter, Carol Myers; a sister, Alice Hockman; a great-granddaughter, Jordynn Elizabeth Eckel; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Myers.
