Sharon K. Zink, age 62, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Manny’s Pizza in Savanna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family in Sharon’s memory.
Sharon was born September 14, 1955, in Savanna, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Darr) Ritchie. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1974. On October 18, 1986, Sharon married Eldon “Tom” Zink in Savanna. They celebrated twenty-two years of marriage until Eldon’s death in 2009. Sharon worked as a lineworker for Invensys and as a CNA at Big Meadows Nursing Home.
Sharon enjoyed playing euchre and bingo. When she was younger, she loved playing pool and going on adventures with friends. Sharon was a kind-hearted person who was a wonderful caregiver and treated everyone as if they were part of her family. She cherished the time spent watching her grandchildren grow up. Attending family holiday parties was important to her because she was able to catch up with her many nieces and nephews and watch her grandchildren open presents.
Sharon will be missed by her daughter, Annie (David) Anderson of Thomson, Illinois; two brothers, Jay (Karen) Ritchie of Albany, Illinois, Tom (Mindy) Ritchie of Savanna, Illinois; a grandson, Kaylin; two step-grandchildren, Wyatt and Mia; a sister in-law, Rita Simmons of Galesburg, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Jerry Ritchie; and many aunts and uncles.
