Patricia Lynette Imeson Arnold went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was currently living at the Elizabeth Nursing home. Pat was born on February 17, 1917 on the U/Lazy U Ranch at the base of the foothills of the Teton Mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming during a snowstorm. She was the third child of Thomas Imeson and Mary Emma Maben Imeson. She was greeted by a brother, Lincoln and a sister, Barbara. Her father died when she was three months old, and her mother moved the small family to Dolan, South Dakota where she met and married Otto John Gano. Soon the family grew with the addition of Margaret Gano Spinelli and Laura Gano Hill. Patricia attended a one room school for eight years, where she had a different teacher every year. She move to Grandview, Iowa where she attended high school, followed by two years at the University of Illinois. Moving to Jo Daviess County provided Pat with the opportunity to meet Leon Henry Arnold. They were united in marriage on May 23, 1940 at the Woodbine church. They farmed, and owned and operated the Woodbine Feed Mill which burned down in 1968. They also operated the Woodbine Livestock Association.
A daughter, Peggy Arnold Bromley (Sandy, Oregon) was the first child, followed by three brothers, Fred of Woodbine, Lincoln (Joanne) of Freeport, Illinois, and Dale (Becky) of Stockton, Illinois. They were active in the Woodbine Grace Evangelical Church. Pat loved to rake hay and care for the shorthorn cow calf herd as well as being the bookkeeper for the feed and livestock business. She had a huge garden every summer, providing fresh and canned produce for the family. She enjoyed opera and would go to the Stockton Opera House to hear Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. Quilting was a favorite hobby and family members treasure the quilts she made and shared with them. Her favorite summer vacations were trips to the western states.
After Lincoln and Dale married, Pat enthusiastically welcomed four granddaughters, Christian Arnold of Troutdale, Oregon, Angela Arnold (Doug) Klett of Alsip, Illinois, Bethany Arnold (Chris Cahoon) Sullivan of Orangeville, Illinois and Danielle Arnold (Marshall) Powell of Stockton. Five great-grandchildren joined the family, Trey, Braydy, and Whitney Sullivan of Orangeville, Tegan Arnold of Stockton, and Alaina Klett of Alsip.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; sisters Barbara and Laura (Terell Hill); brother Lincoln; brother-in-law John Spinelli, and son-in-law, John Bromley.
Services will be held Saturday, September 13 at the Schapville Zion Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth, Illinois. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Pat’s memory.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Elizabeth Nursing Home for their wonderful care, the care that Dr. Michael McFadden gave, and the FHN Hospice of Freeport for answering questions, providing care to Pat and support to the family.
