Mary Helen Castro-Weiler

Mary “Helen” Castro-Weiler, age 81 of Savanna, Illinois, formerly of Kewanee, Illinois passed away Thursday, August 08, 2019 at home taking her secret potato salad recipe with her. A celebration of Helen’s life will take place from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 13 at Manny’s Pizza in Savanna. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Helen was born December 18, 1937, the daughter of Frank and Antonia (Camarena) Castro in Savanna. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. Helen did restaurant work and later went into factory work as a line worker. In retirement she enjoyed helping others at the Senior Center in Kewanee.
Aunt Helen enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and reading. Family meant the most to Helen, she truly treasured the time she spent with her nieces and nephews.
Aunt Helen will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews; three sister in-laws, Lupe Castro of Savanna, Angelina Castro of Chicago, Illinois and Judy Castro of Rock Falls, Illinois. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Adrian, Esperanza Sanchez; six brothers, Raymond Sr., Joe (Mary), Manuel Sr. (Emilea) Frank, George and Richard Castro, she was also preceded in death by her birds and two dogs, Chula and Paco. She will be fondly remembered by all as Aunt Helen.
