Lloyd Freeman

Lloyd L. Freeman age 92, died July 19, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on October 7, 1922, son of Charles and Olive Freeman in rural Mt.Carroll. Lloyd attended Hickory Grove School and graduated from Mt.Carroll High School in 1944. He was united in marriage to Nancy Colliflower on March 13, 1960 in Bloomington, MN.
He was a farmer in the Preston Prairie area for 44 years, growing crops, raising hogs, chickens, and cattle along with milking in the early years. He especially enjoyed calving in the spring of the year. After retiring from farming, Lloyd worked as a custodian for the Mt.Carroll School District at Center Hill School for 9 years and was also a part time Pinkerton guard.
Lloyd was a member and past Master of the Masonic Cyruss Lodge #188 AF & AM, a member of the Freeport Consistory, and a member of the Eastern Star, where he served as a past Patron of Ola Chapter. He was also a past member of the Lions Club, 4 C’s Club, and the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church.
After retirement, Lloyd continued to enjoy being outdoors rather it was working in his yard and garden, clearing snow for his neighbors, or traveling to Alaska for family fun adventures. He took delight in attending both his daughters’ and granddaughter’s many music and theatre performances over the years. He especially enjoyed playing games and cards with his wife, friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Vicki (Samuel) Huntington and granddaughter, Madison Stauffer of Madison, WI; a sister-in-law Wilma (Ken) Freeman of Mt.Carroll; and 4 nieces and 2 nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, a sister, and daughter.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll with a Masonic Service being held at 5:00 p.m. prior to visitation. A memorial fund has been established in Lloyd’s memory.
