Frank A. Gray, age 79, of Hanover, Illinois, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Elizabeth Nursing Facility in Elizabeth, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, Illinois with Reverend Lynn Matthews officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover. Military Rites will be accorded by the Hanover Veterans of Foreign War Post #5300. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to the Hanover Ambulance Association or the Tabala Shrine in Freeport, Illinois in Frank’s memory.
Frank was born on June 22, 1927, the son of Homer and Bernice (Barnes) Gray in Hanover, Illinois. He attended Hanover High School and graduated with the class 1945. Frank served with the United States Navy from 1945-1946. Frank Married Lavonne “Bonnie” Anderson on September 7, 1947 in Hanover, Illinois. Bonnie died on February 13, 1984.
Frank farmed his entire life in the Hanover area. He was a Cattle Buyer for Dubuque Packing Company in Dubuque, Iowa for over 20 years. Frank was a lifetime member of the Hanover V.F.W. and the Elizabeth Masons. He was a past member of the Hanover Methodist Church and the Tabala Shrine in Freeport, Illinois. Frank was also active with the Jo Daviess County Housing Authority. He enjoyed spending time will all kinds of animals, especially horses. Most of all Frank loved spending time with his family.
Frank will be dearly missed by two sons, Allen F. (Laura) Gray of Hanover, Illinois and Charles A. “Gus” (Carrie) Gray of Westminster, Colorado; one daughter, Shelly A. Gray of Island Lake, Illinois; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bonnie.
