Dustin Pogue was passionate about being a Dad, Husband, and working on cars. He was very caring and loved with his whole heart, if he could give you the shirt off his back he would. Dustin passed away suddenly at the age of 25 February 27, 2014 at the Carroll County Jail, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. He will be missed dearly by his entire family; wife, Amanda Pogue of Savanna; two sons, Dawson and Drake Pogue at home in Savanna and a daughter, Pheonix Lynn Owens of Monks Corner, South Carolina; his mother, Lori Grayum of Rockford; brother, Neil Grayum of Rockford; maternal grandparents, Wilbern Grayum and Barbara Clausen, both of Rockford; two uncles, Larry Grayum of Las Vegas, Nevada and Barry Grayum of Mt. Carroll; and his dog, Dante Pogue.
Dustin was born May 25, 1988 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a youngster, he was a daredevil and wanted to motorize everything. He could tear things apart and put them back together again. In his teenage years, Dustin personified "Rebel with a Cause." When he was passionate about something, he would do it, no matter what anyone told him. This stubborn streak helped him in life as he learned to dismantle and repair an entire engine, along with taking care of his children and most importantly his love, Amanda. He and his wife, Amanda, met at the age of twelve and knew they would be together. He pushed her to continue her education and graduate from college. They were married May 1, 2012.
Like many of us, besides our accomplishments, being human and making mistakes was also part of the challenge in Dustin's life. His family prays that his life will not be forgotten, and that it will serve as a reminder that even in the despair of life, there can be a brighter tomorrow. That when life is full of challenge, just one-day-at-a-time.
