Clyde Whitmore

April 22, 1944 — January 3, 2014

Clyde Alan Whitmore was most comfortable spending time at home chopping wood while wearing his favorite straw hat. He died at the age of 69, on January 3, 2014 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Frank- Law- Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Pastor Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 9, 2014 at Frank- Law- Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be given to local animal shelter or food pantry in Clyde’s memory.
Clyde was born on April 22, 1944 the son of Edwin “Bud” and Agnes Irene (Lux) Whitmore in Los Angeles, California. He attended Steele High School in North Dakota before attending San Jose State University, California. Clyde graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Clyde married Dori (Williams) Whitmore on August 19, 1995 in Palatine, Illinois.
Clyde was an Application Engineer with Teradyne for several years before retiring in 2001. While working for Teradyne, Clyde and his wife Dori traveled across the globe. They loved traveling and their travels included trips to London, Australia, Hawaii, Cancun, and most recently Panama and an Alaskan cruise. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, reading, computers, and playing in the stock market. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Clyde will be dearly missed by his wife, Dori; two sons, Brian Whitmore of Garden Grove, California and Steven Richey of Saratoga, California; two daughters, Renee (Greg) Abenido of Oceano, California and Lisa (Kerry) Becker of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, Ashlee (Jason) Quintero and Rocky, Skylar and Tabitha; two great- grandchildren, Champ and Kameron; two sisters, Helen Whitmore of Littleton, Colorado and Holly (Rick) Johnson of Nevis, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
