Camilla Mae Ritenour

Camilla Mae Ritenour, age 96, of Preston, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Preston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Preston Legion Auxiliary or the Preston United Methodist Church in Camilla’s memory.

Camilla was born March 21, 1922, in Canton, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Caroline (Straub) Taylor. She graduated from Maquoketa High School. She then went onto Maquoketa Junior College. On June 25, 1943, Camilla married Jerald Ritenour. Together they celebrated 75 years of marriage, and raised four children. Jerald passed away on August 2, 2017

Camilla worked as a secretary at Preston Mutual Insurance and Ehlinger-Engel Insurance in Maquoketa. She was a member of Women’s Club, Red Hat Society, Preston Legion Auxiliary and the Preston United Methodist Church. She loved playing cards, baking and making homemade noodles. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and spending time with her family.

Camilla will be dearly missed by two sons, Steven (Shirly) Ritenour and Kevin (Debra) Ritenour, both of Preston, Iowa; daughter Ann Marolf of Preston, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Marcella Cahill of Arizona.

Camilla is preceded in death by her husband, Jerald; one son, Rodney; one sister, Freda; two brothers, Calvin and John; and a son in-law, Mike Arlandson.
