Barbara Ann Collins

Barbara Ann Collins was always thinking about others as she did her best in life. At home, Barbara was attentive to the details in caring for her family, and at work she did the same for her customers. After a long illness, Barbara passed away at home peacefully, Sunday, January 26, 2014 with her family at her side. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with a Memorial Visitation one hour prior to the service from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Barbara's memory.
Barbara was born December 21, 1952 in Savanna, the daughter of Donald and Dolores (Thulen) Goss. She attended Savanna Schools and then worked as a waitress for area restaurants. On October 9, 1969, Barbara married Richard "Dick" Collins in Savanna at the Presbyterian Church. They have celebrated forty-four years of marriage.
Barbara found the work she really enjoyed when she began her career with Sullivan's Foods in Savanna. She especially liked working banquets and receptions. In November Barbara was recognized for her twenty-seven years of service at the grocery store with a retirement appreciation luncheon.
Barbara loved being with family. She enjoyed sewing, spending time at the river cabin playing horse-shoes and taking Sunday drives with her husband Dick. She also loved her dogs, Stormy, Cinder, Sandy, Bud and Haley.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband, Dick Collins of Savanna; a son, Richard Collins of Chanahon, Illinois; three daughters, Jennifer Long of Camanche, Iowa, Theresa (Tully) McAuliffe of Savanna and JoAnn Collins of Savanna; five grandchildren, Jordyn and Peyton Long, Justin (Megan) Ferguson and Jaron Ferguson, and Damian Sedivy; two great grandchildren, Delaney Ferguson and Drake Doecher; two brothers, Robert (Pam) Goss of Savanna and Jim Goss of Savanna; three sisters, Joyce (Dick) Arno of Savanna, Donna Schuyler of Taylor Ridge, Illinois and Valerie (Rick) Steiner of Argyle, Wisconsin; a step-brother, Steven Bradley of Savanna; and a step-sister, Sandra (Dale) Mennenga of Freeport, Illinois. Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Goss; a sister, Jacqueline at birth; both parents, and her step-mom of 32 years, Betty Bradley.
