Rose M. Fritz, age 83, of Galena, Illinois, formerly of Hanover, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at the Galena Stauss Nursing Home, Galena, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, Iowa.
Rose was born November 9, 1928, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Archie and Ada (Slattery) Baker. She worked at Eaton in Hanover, Illinois, until her retirement. Rose was an active member of St. Ann’s Society at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover. Rose loved her church and was a caring and lovable person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved her cats.
Rose is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Roberta (and friend Bruce) of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and Cora (Karl) Oberbroeckling of Peosta, Iowa; two sons, Terry (and friend Michele) Fritz of Metairie, Louisiana, and Pat Fritz (and friend Pat Curran) of Freeport, Illinois; three grandsons, Jesse, Matt and Danny Oberbroeckling; one sister, Norma Schroeder of Dubuque; one brother, Arnold (Diane) Baker of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Pettigout and Rita Hebert; and one brother at birth
