Robert W. Reese Jr. age 70, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away at home Saturday, July 15, 2017 at home following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll.
Robert was born October 26, 1946 the son of Robert W. and Irene Celeste (Liebforth) Reese in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Eisenhower High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois and graduated with the Class of 1964.. Following high school, Robert served in the United States Army in Korea as a tank driver during the Vietnam War. Robert married the love of his life Connie Elrod on June 18, 1966 in Little Rock, Arkansas. They Celebrated 51 years of marriage. Robert worked as a Chemical Engineer at Nalco Chemical in Chicago, retiring in 2002. After retirement, He volunteered at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and would guide tours through the German U-505 submarine exhibit. He also volunteered through Meals on Wheels in Carrol County, Illinois.
Robert was a member of the Chi-Town Chapter of the H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group), and the N.R.A. His passion for motorcycles brought him to every state but Alaska. He loved muscle cars and driving fast all over the country. Robert was a history buff and always enjoyed watching old movies on AMC. He also enjoyed playing paintball. He recently moved to Mt Carroll and loved spending time in his yard bird watching and surrounded by nature. He was always the life of the party and was surrounded by friends wherever he went. He was a loving pet owner to many dogs and birds over the years. Most of all, Robert cherished the time he spent with his family. His daughters and grandchildren often looked to him for guidance and support.
Robert will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie; three daughters, Shannon Reese of Aurora, Illinois, Sarah (Peter) Mackin of Yorkville, Illinois, Heidi Reese of Marion, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Alexis, Shelby, Gabrielle, Colin; three sisters, Cathy (Dennis) LoToza of Burbank, Illinois, Judy (Ray) Offemaria of Oak Lawn, Nancy (Steven) Draper of Phoenix, Arizona. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda.
