Robert “Rob” A. Witt, age 51, of Preston, Iowa, died suddenly on Saturday, March 21, 2015 as the result of a motorcycle accident. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Burial will take place in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa.
Rob was born on June 6, 1963, the son of Donald and Phyllis (Kruse) Witt in Clinton, Iowa. Rob was raised in Preston and attended Preston Schools. Rob married Sheila Barton on May 11, 1991 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Iowa.
Rob worked in the waste water treatment facility at A.D.M. in Clinton, Iowa for over twenty years. He was also the Water Superintendent for Delmar and Charlotte, Iowa. Rob loved riding his motorcycle and was Sergeant of Arms for A.B.A.T.E. District #21. He treasured spending time with his friends and going to Manny's every week for pizza. He also enjoyed watching Little League Baseball and was planning to coach this summer in Sabula, Iowa.
Rob will be dearly missed by his two children, Briana and Jacob Witt of Park Rapids, Minnesota; mother and step father, Phyllis and Lorin Berg of Charlotte; one sister, Deb (Tim) Walter of Dixon, Illinois; two step brothers, Todd (Sylvia) Berg of Salix, Iowa, and Jeff (Jill) Berg of Sloan, Iowa; his loving companion, Penny Welch of Sabula, and her two sons; two aunts, Dorothy Storek of Omaha, Nebraska, and Donna Jean Witt of Maquoketa, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rob was preceded in death by his father, Donald Witt; one nephew, David Walter; and one step brother, Greg Berg.
