Raymond F. Kloth, age 77 of Savanna, Illinois died on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home. A private family funeral service will be held at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in Zion Cemetery, rural Savanna. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28th at the Savanna Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Savanna Community Ambulance Association in Raymond’s memory.
Raymond was born on April 3, 1939, the son of James and Catherine (Atkinson) Kloth in Elmhurst, Illinois. He married Judy Laursen on January 19, 1959 in Wadsworth, Illinois. Ray worked for Abbott Laboratories in Abbott Park Illinois for thirty-five years, before retiring in 1994. After retirement in 1997, Ray and Judy bought a farm and built a home in rural Savanna, satisfying a life-long dream of theirs to live in the country.
Ray was a self assured man who wore bib overalls, loved to collect antique farm equipment and was affectionately known in the community as "farmer".
Ray was a family man first and foremost, known to all as being outspoken, generous, full of life, fearless and ready to embrace any challenge that life brought.
Ray was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. As a young boy he was the driving force to support and keep his family together, a common thread throughout his life and that which will continue.
Ray was a man of many interests, talented in woodworking, leatherwork and a collector of all things great and small. An engineer at heart, Ray designed and built many grand projects throughout his life. He had a passion for fishing, fly tying, and camping. Ray also raised roller pigeons and enjoyed attending competitions. Ray was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching the games with his daughter. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Judy and was particularly drawn to the history of the West and together they traveled extensively throughout the western United States.
Raymond will be dearly missed but never forgotten by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Cindy Kloth (Ayed Albtounieh) of Karak, Jordan, Vicky (William F. Todd) Kloth of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and Brenda (Jim) McMillan of Savanna; one son, Kevin Kloth of Savanna; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren, with one in the bun; three sisters, and one brother. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and one sister.
