Raymond Lee Cooper

Raymond Lee Cooper, age 89, of Savanna, Illinois died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.
Raymond was born April 29, 1923 in Thomson, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Edna (Glascock) Cooper. He attended Thomson High School, and graduated with the class of 1941.
Raymond served his country in the United States Marines during World War II, as a member of the 24th Division Occupation of Japan, until being discharged in 1945. He worked for the Burlington Rail Road as a Carman, and for the Savanna, Waukesha, and Clinton railroads for 20 years.
Raymond will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law, Mildred Cooper of Hanover, Illinois; two nephews, Jake and Luba Cooper of Lincoln, Nebraska; two great-nephews, Scott Cooper of Omaha, Nebraska, Chris Cooper of Danville, California; and a great-niece Valerie Cooper of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Kenneth Cooper, and one sister, Ruth Yates.
