Michael S. Marshall, age 60, of Savanna, IL, passed away in his home, Saturday, February 15, 2020. Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Ridge Runners in Savanna. A time of sharing will take place at 1pm with a luncheon to follow, until 3pm. Then from 3pm to 10pm, all are invited to kick back and have a good time, remembering our time with Mike.
Michael was born July 19, 1959, in Sycamore, IL, the son of Sylvester and Marjorie (Dorneden) Marshall. He attended Hiawatha Kirkland schools, graduating with the class of 1977. He married Anita Powell, September 1985. Then went onto to marry his best friend and the love of his life Carla Fisher in February 2000.
Mike owned and operated Whiskey River in Savanna for 18 years. He enjoyed Nascar racing, also racing at The Rockford Speedway, fishing, hunting, friends and family gatherings. He enjoyed building his own rat rod. Most importantly he loved being a Papa.
Mike never met a stranger and enjoyed BS'ing with everyone. He had the gift of gab. He was definitely one of a kind, with a heart of gold. He was always willing to help those in need if he could. He'd give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket.
Michael will be dearly missed by his wife, Carla; three children, Justin (Tashia) Jackson, of Fulton, IL, Michelle (Curtis Rouw) Marshall, of Kirkland, IL, and Lindsay Powell, of Loves Park, IL; four grandchildren, Fischer, Paige, Carter, and Victor; and sister, Helen Becker, of Centerville, GA. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Marjorie Marshall, brother, Jim Marshall, step-son, Jeremy Jackson, and brother-in-law, Mike Becker.
