MaryJo Lohmann, age 72, of Thomson, passed away Sunday, December 6th, at her home. A private family graveside service will be held.
MaryJo was born December 8th, 1947, daughter of Refugio and Arlene (Wagner) Gonzalez. She was raised in Aurora, IL, and attended Aurora schools. MaryJo graduated from East Aurora High School with the class of 1967. A few years later MaryJo met the love of her life, Ralph Lohmann. The couple married on May 19th, 1972. MaryJo and Ralph spent many years in Aurora, while taking camping trips to the Thomson area, they fell in love with the local wildlife and the Mississippi. Years later they would retire to Riverview. The couple raised three children and celebrated 48 years of marriage.
MaryJo was quite the craftsman. She loved to work with ceramics at her kiln. While in Aurora MaryJo would fill her and Ralph’s garage with shelves of ceramics. She was also a great at painting, crocheting, and sewing.
MaryJo loved canning. She grew an assortment of vegetables in her garden, all destined for the dinner table. She was quite proud of her homemade jellies and jams. She was also a great cook and baker. Taking skills she acquired working at a bakery, MaryJo would make breads and cookies for the holidays. Her and Ralph were also known for making a tasty wine with their very own grapes.
MaryJo will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Ralph Lohmann Sr.; two children, Ralph (Dionne) Lohmann Jr. and Vicki Lohmann Benavidez; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother Ray (Beverly) Gonzalez. MaryJo is preceded in death by her parents, Refugio and Arlene, and one daughter, Shelly Lohmann
