Marilyn A. Cravatta, age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Moises Apostol as Celebrant. A memorial gathering will be held at the Law Jones Funeral Home prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Savanna Police Department and/or the Savanna Community Ambulance.
Marilyn was born May 6, 1927 in Savanna, the youngest of 10 children of Howard and Violet (Helbling) Nehrkorn. She graduated from Savanna High School and was a lifelong resident of Savanna.
Marilyn dedicated 30 years of her life as an employee of the Milwaukee Railroad. She also worked at the Savanna Army Depot Proving Grounds and she was a secretary for State Representative, Franklin Stransky. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Marilyn took great pride in her home where she loved cooking/baking for church and her family. Marilyn enjoyed sharing these talents with her children, grandchildren and the community.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by a son, Michael J. (Kathleen) Cravatta of Sun City West, Arizona; two daughters, Christine Fronczak of Los Gatos, California and Karen (Theodore) Bots of Clarendon Hills, Illinois; six grandchildren, Chad, Ian, Sean, Liam, Owen, and Evan; three great-grandchildren, Rylann, Amorey, and Sullivan; and her former husband, Michael B. Cravatta of Westmont, Illinois.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Ryan; six brothers and three sisters.
